The president Declan Lavelle launched the new term at his SAI presidential address in the Alex Hotel on the 21st of September 2022. You can read his presidential speech here https://web.actuaries.ie/press/speeches 

The SAI's Diversity and Inclusion (D&I) Committee organised a pilot Transition Year Work Experience program (the “SAI TY program”) with the aim of introducing the actuarial profession to students from diverse backgrounds. The aim of the program was to reach students who would not normally have access to this type of experience. 

The SAI TY program is an interactive 4-day program for transition year students run by Susan HayesCulleton of The Positive Economist and Savvy Teen Academy, in collaboration with volunteers from the D&I Committee and sponsoring employers.

The Society of Actuaries in Ireland is delighted to publish a new podcast series, celebrating 50 years of the Society.

In this series of podcasts, host, Aileen O'Meara and a number of esteemed guests from the Society of Actuaries in Ireland discuss the evolution of the Society and its role in Ireland over the last 50 years; where we started, how we got to where we are today and where we see ourselves heading as a profession.

The Society of Actuaries in Ireland has announced that it awarded Honorary Fellowship to Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland 1990-97.

The Society of Actuaries in Ireland is delighted to partner with the Irish Youth Foundation to raise money for their Flagship Fund.

At our 2022 President's Conference on 3rd May, we will explore the theme "Megatrends: Shaping our Future".  

In the attached note, Conference speaker James Maher sets out some thoughts that will be explored on the day.

50th Anniversary – Lifetime Achievement Recognition

As we celebrated our 50th anniversary, we reflected on the past 50 years and considered those members whose contributions over a lengthy period – including periods prior to the introduction of our “outstanding contribution” awards - had made a lasting impact on the Society and the actuarial profession.

Our “outstanding contribution” awards were introduced in 2012 and recognise members’ contributions to the Society’s work over the three years prior to an award.

The Society’s President, Sheelagh Malin, has prepared a short video to share details of our plans to recognise and celebrate our 50th Anniversary year in 2022.
